Stevens Lynda Rosemarie
The artist was born in England, but has been living and creating in Budapest for more than 20 years.
Stevens Lynda Rosemarie creates abstract works that are made from a variety of materials. She uses canvas, wax, paper, textiles, glass pieces, and metal foil to create her works. Her works are characterized by lustrous colors and structured surfaces, which she uses with various mineral inlays.
His works leave a pleasant, yet strong impression on the viewer, which most often stems from the incomprehensible energy lurking beneath the surface, as the paintings are built up of several layers. For this reason, a harmonious and a disharmonious dimension appears simultaneously in the works, because a subconscious process shapes the creation of each work. His sources of inspiration include destruction, renewal, natural forces, such as volcanoes, the sea, storms, space.
He originally graduated in Italian/English from the University of Warwick in 1981.
In the 1980s he also gained two certificates in painting. The first at FE Leamington Spa College, where he studied drawing, painting and art history. The second at Coventry University, where he was introduced to different media, experimenting with metals, ceramics and textiles. Here he joined the Hillfields Artist group, within which he exhibited regularly.
He is currently experimenting with various techniques, including pouring acrylic and enamel onto already painted canvas. Another exciting technique that has attracted him recently is splatter, or fluid paint.
